Hearts for Haiti - The PTA is sending home pink hearts for you to cut out and decorate. We will hang the hearts at the Valentine Sale on 2/12 in support of the people of Haiti. You can send in a cash donation with your heart in an envelope marked "Hearts for Haiti" all week. Donations will be accepted in the main office collection box and in the gym on the day of the Valentine sale.
The PTA will match donations up to $1000.00. For more info on the relief efforts and on donating directly by check to any other organizations helping the effort - visit

APL - ARIS PARENT LINK
Last June, PS 102 parents were given letters introducing them to APL. The first letter included their child's Student ID #, (or OSIS #) the second has a unique password for accessing the site. APL allows you to access the same information on your child that educators use. Contact Margaret Sheri if you cannot located these letters or numbers, need help logging on, do not have an email account, or need to access a computer for viewing your child's APL account at:

H1N1/Seasonal Flu
PLEASE follow all guidelines on keeping your family healthy this flu season. Help stop the spread of the flu by keeping your children home if they have symptoms of flu-like illness: fever with cough or fever with sore throat New Yorkers with symptoms of influenza can consult a nurse by calling 311...operators will provide concerned New Yorkers with information on what to do if they or a family member feels sick with flu-like illness. Callers with symptoms of influenza will be connected to registered nurses, who will provide information and advice on whether to seek care.

PS102 and HeartShare have received a
Physics Outreach Grant from the New York State Section of the American Physical Society to implement an after-school science enrichment curriculum based on the book Teaching Physics with Toys. The Physics Outreach Grant program supports projects that increase public understanding and appreciation of physics particularly for K-12 students.
